OVER Peover Cricket Club are celebrating a hat-trick of successes this season.

The first XI have achieved a magnificent double, with their emphatic victory over Langley in the Cheshire Cricket League T20 Cup capping a promotion that has seen them finish the league campaign as champions.

That was sealed with a win against second-placed Runcorn and the promotion will take Peover into the Cheshire County Cricket League for the first time in their 76-year history.

Over Peover second XI had already gained promotion as champions in late August after beating Aston – a 13th win out of 14 games played.

The most recent first XI cup win proved to be a successful defence of the competition they won last year.

And it came after Peover scored 144-7 off 20 overs.

Matt Simpson, with a man-of-the-match knock of 48, was brilliantly supported by Matt Tucker, 27 not out.

Peover then bowled Langley out for 70, with Rob Jones and Aiden Antony taking three wickets each.

Matt Dobson held a steepling catch to take the prized wicket of Robin Smith, a key moment as Peover reduced Langley to 4-4.
