KNUTSFORD FC fell to a second consecutive 3-0 defeat in their latest Cheshire Football League fixture on Saturday.

They were powerless to resist unbeaten League One leaders Denton Town, who swept to victory at Manchester Road to make it seven wins out of seven.

After an even opening to the game, the visitors hit the front 11 minutes in when Josh Rushby glanced home a header after Reds had lost the ball in midfield.

While they were able to match the tempo set by their energetic visitors, Knutsford’s downfall was their passing as they failed to make inroads into the Denton defence.

The closest they came was Graeme Brotherton sending a header just wide before the visitors’ lead was doubled in the closing stages of the first half by Jordan McCann.

Having made changes at the break, Reds started the second half well and forced an excellent save from the Denton keeper as Tom Bowey’s curling effort was denied.

Knutsford were on the front foot but the visitors continued to be a threat on the break, with goalkeeper Dominic Smith forced into a good stop.

It was from a counter-attack that Denton put the game to bed, breaking quickly from a Reds free kick for Rushby to score his second goal.

Knutsford are due to travel to Sandbach United Reserves tomorrow night before a visit to Vulcan on Saturday.
