TOFT Cricket Club first XI's disappointing start to the season continued in a heavy defeat at Nantwich on Saturday.

The Dabbers took the ECB Premier Division victory by nine wickets after reducing their guests to 91 all out in 39.4 overs.

Rohan Fernando was Toft's top scorer with 21 runs, while Jimmy Lomas (13), Tom Forster (10), Tom Maddocks (15) and Scott Craig (11) also reached double figures.

Jimmy Warrington was a thorn in their side, taking 4 for 8.

Fernando was the only Toft bowler to scalp a home batsman, sending Chris Simpson back to the pavilion on 21.

But Raymond Doyle (41 not out) and Marcus Stables (22 not out) ensured the big-hitting hosts got the job done by achieving 92-1 in just 8.4 overs.

Meanwhile, Toft's second XI held on for a draw at home to Neston who had set a target of 254-9 in 50 overs.

At the end of their 50th over, Toft had reached 152-9.
