KNUTSFORD Cricket Club's all-conquering second team capped a memorable season by securing the league title at the weekend.

Having already secured promotion, a powerful performance against Langley ensured the Cheshire Cricket League Division C East title headed to Mereheath Lane.

Their 17th victory of the summer was set up by a dominant batting display which saw them rack up 275-9 having been put in by the visitors.

Muhammad Arslan's knock of 116 – his maiden hundred – was the highlight as he shared a century stand with Waqar Khan (54), while Bilal Hussain (32) and Atal Jan (26) provided late fireworks.

In reply, Langley could not live with the pace of Jan and Mohammad Hamza as the Knutsford seamers shared all 10 wickets between them.

Hamza finished with 6-20 and Jan with 4-17 as the visitors were dismissed for just 63, wrapping up a colossal 212-run victory.

The first team also wrapped up their season with their own eight-wicket success on the road at their Langley counterparts.

Four wickets for Adnan Ghazanfar and two each for Ripon Ahmed and Adeel Bhatti meant the hosts collapsed from 100-1 to 161 all out – a target Knutsford reached with 19 overs to spare.

A 117-run opening partnership laid the groundwork, with Ajmal Mugal smashing 86 from just 48 deliveries while Ghazanfar contributed 37 and Mushin Ali's quickfire unbeaten 31 got them over the line.
