THERE has been plenty of action at golf clubs around the town of late.

At Alderley Edge, a card play-off was needed to decide the Singles Stableford as Paul Finney and Keith Doyle both finished on 35 points – the cpo eventually put the former on top.

Gary Olson (34), Ron Ricketts and Hansel Allen (both 33) were in hot pursuit.

The mixed 9-hole Stableford was won by Billy Bennett with 21 points, two clear of Helen Fitch with Jon Grundy, Duncan McPherson and Paul Grundy all a further two points back.

Edge's ladies played a Par competition for the Brenda Hendry prize and Olivia Brewster was the only player to beat par on -2, with Marian Hall level and Julie Ricketts +4

Over at Styal, club legend Harry Reid won the Wednesday Stableford via a cpo with Dave McKee after both finished on 37 points – two clear of James Thomas.

Thomas was also in the mix for the Friday Frolics but his score of 18 was good enough for a share of third with Ian Buckley, three behind winner Carl Deach. Matt Mountney (19) took second.

A White tee medal for Styal's seniors had Brian Gray first past the post with 64, one clear of David Wrigley with John Parr three shots further back.

Kevin O'Doherty posted 40 points to win a Styal seniors Yellow tee Stableford and lead in Len Potts (39) and Jim Waugh (36)
