EGERTON Football Club are quite literally on Cloud Nine at the moment.

An utterly dominant performance in front of goal on Saturday saw them crush Crewe FC 9-1 away from home to make it back-to-back Cheshire Football League Premier Division victories.

Add a 5-0 win at Poynton in their previous outing to the mix and the Yellows have smashed 14 goals in just two matches – one every 13 minutes on average.

Josh Sherry struck a hat-trick in the win at Crewe, with substitute Aaron Best scoring twice.

Dougie Pringle, Jonathan Higham, Niall Rhodes and another substitute in Ellis Graham were also on the scoresheet.

Sherry also scored from the penalty spot at Poynton – a game Egerton went into having lost their opening two fixtures against Greenalls PSO and Billinge.

Pringle had opened the scoring after finishing off a run and pass from Rhodes, who was brought down for the spot kick Sherry converted.

Yellows keeper Jamie Preston then saved a Poynton penalty before Reece Gilsenan powered home a header from Sherry’s corner.

Jordan Goodeve then scored twice to add late gloss to the scoreline, nodding home a cross before finishing off a neat move involving Pringle and Higham.

Attention turns to the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup on Saturday as Yellows visit neighbours Holmes Chapel. Kick off is at 2pm.
