PROGRESS continues at Knutsford Football Club as pre-season friendlies continue to come thick and fast.

The past week has seen three friendlies against opposition from higher up the footballing pyramid, resulting in two defeats and a victory described by Reds chairman Jimmy Evans as their best performance of pre-season to date.

Monday evening saw new manager Nick Eaton and his coaching staff take their side to Barnton, who ply their trade in Division One South of the North West Counties Football League.

They found themselves 2-0 down at the break, with Macauley Clifton and Deklan Hill scoring for the hosts at Townfield.

Things did not improve after the break as Eden Gumbs and Connor Anderson scored late on to secure a 4-0 win for the Villagers.

This came just two days after a notable 3-2 win over Northwich Victoria of the NWCFL Premier Division at Manchester Road on Saturday.

Knutsford got off to a flyer and found themselves 3-0 up at half time, with Tom Rutter scoring twice to go with a further strike from Miguel Vilches for Eaton’s Reds.

The hosts had to withstands a comeback from Vics, with Darrhyl Mason pulling a goal back midway through the second half before an own goal with five minutes left reduced the deficit to one, but Reds held on to win.

Last Tuesday, Knutsford travelled to a strong and physical Cheadle Heath Nomads and came away with a 2-1 defeat despite a decent display.

Their next friendly match is on Saturday as they travel to Alsager Town for a 3pm kick off.
