A HOST of one-sided victories were recorded as the top four faced the bottom four in week 12 of Mid-Cheshire Table Tennis Super League Division One.

Top side Tigers beat Lemmings, Victoria Club defeated bottom side Winsford and Sparks overcame Wreckers – all by convincing 10-0 score lines.

Match of the week came in the Raptors versus George Abbotts Butchers encounter.

Second-placed Butchers could only turn out two players, so conceded three sets immediately but former league champion Geoff Cummings proved too strong for anything the Raptors could throw at him – winning his three comfortably and combining with Rob Wylie to take the doubles.

Raptor’s Chris Snape and Simon Lafferty enjoyed good wins over Wylie, whose solitary victory over Chris Hough earned the Butchers the draw.

In Division Two, leaders Cobras took a massive step towards the title with a 9-1 thrashing of second-placed Bears, who slipped to third behind Daresbury Lab Rats.

Geoff Mee and Tom Beevers went unbeaten, while Bears' only point came in Paul Curley’s three-set win over Dave Myles.

The Lab Rats overcame Hawks 7-3, with Martin Roberts winning his three sets, but are now 16 points behind the Cobras with a game in hand.

The final match at this level saw a 5-5 draw between Sticklebacks and Manweb, for whom Dave Nelson was unbeaten.

With Victoria Club’s second string having the week off, this was a chance for other teams to catch up on the Division Three leaders.

However, at the time of going to press, second-placed Snakes' result at Rangers was still outstanding.

Kinetics kept up the chase in third place with an 8-2 win over Lostock Smashers.

Ciprian Mihalache was player of the match for Kinetics and Martin Selby was also unbeaten, while Max Tovell and Alex Lyons secured solid wins for the Smashers over veteran George Berry.

Elsewhere, Wolves overcame the higher-placed Romans 7-3, with Mark Hayes and Piers McLeish both winning all three of their games.
