KNUTSFORD Squash Club’s women got the new week off to the best possible start with an emphatic 19-4 win at Liverpool Cricket Club.
A full complement of wins were recorded by Angela Greenland (#1), Jessie Clutterbrook (#2), Amanda Richardson (#3), Sara Bayley (#4) and Rebecca Dearman (#5) to cement second place 29 points clear of Prestbury.
The first team took on Northern thirds at home and despite a fantastic 3-2 victory for rising star Charles Keeble, now playing at #2, the rest of the team couldn’t quite manage to emulate his success and slumped to a 19-7 loss.
Paul Norman ran Garth Van Der Wath close at #1 but couldn’t quite get over the line and lost 3-2 after a long match.
The second team didn’t have much luck against Northern fifths, despite a very strong showing from Ewen Macdonald, winning in three at #3.
The seconds slumped to a 17-7 loss, dropping them to third in Division Three South East.
Knutsford thirds had their work cut out against top of the league Tollgate and went down 2-20, with Will McLeod getting the two consolation points.
The fifths hosted Northern sevenths and suffered a 17-8 reversal, with Paul Aspinall taking a good 3-0 win at #3.
Knutsford sixths struggled at high-flying Hyde thirds and slumped to a 21-2 loss.
On a more positive note, the sevenths took a fantastic away win at Northern eighths, with Andy Keeble taking a 3-2 victory at #1 – sealing it with a 23-21 tie-break win in the fifth!
At the opposite end of the scorecard, Dave Ahearn won 3-2 at #5.
Stephen Wright won 3-1 at #4 to ensure the team were victorious on the night.
