KNUTSFORD Squash Club were back in action this week.

The ladies suffered an uncharacteristic loss at Bollington.

Jessie Clutterbrook (#2) and Amanda Richardson (#3) contributed impressive 3-0 victories, but a third victory proved elusive on the night and the team suffered an overall 7-13 loss.

Despite this, they still remain second in Cheshire Ladies Squash League Division Two by some margin.

The men hosted Crewe Vagrants seconds in Division Two South and despite good victories for Simon Langley at #3 (3-2) and Charles Keeble at #4 (3-0), a third victory just wouldn’t materialise and the team slipped to the narrowest of defeats at 16-10.

There is little to choose between the bottom three teams in the division, so a couple of good results could make the difference when the imminent end of season relegation battle commences.

High-flying men’s seconds hosted Warrington thirds and despite 3-0 wins from the two club doctors Dave Waring (#3) and Pete Ceuppens (#4), it wasn’t enough and Knutsford once again slipped to another 3-2 defeat. The seconds remain in contention at the top of Division Three South East.

The thirds travelled to the bright lights of David Llloyd at the Trafford Centre where the highlight was an Andy Ryder 3-1 win at #4, but the team overall slipped to an 18-4 reversal.

The fourths took a well-deserved 19-7 home victory against Disley seconds with Tony Hindley (3-0 at #2), Simon Hopkinson (3-2 at #3), John Ward (3-1 at #4) and Paul Aspinall (3-1 at #5) sealing the deal.

Similarly, the fifths took a home win against City of Manchester fourths with Dave Smith (3-1 at #2), Matt Roberts (3-0 at 3), Graham Hunter (3-1 at #4) and Angela Greenland (3-1 at #5) all doing the needful resulting in a 17-6 scoreline.

The Sixths suffered a 20-2 defeat at a strong City of Manchester thirds with Pete Webborn (#2) and Richard Neale (#3) getting the consolation points.

The Sevenths slumped to a 20-3 loss against City of Manchester fifths with Geoff Dalton (#2) taking an excellent 3-1 win to prevent a whitewash.
