THE flourishing women’s section at High Legh Park Golf Club reached new heights in 2019.

Ladies captain Lynn Allatt said: “The business ladies team made it to the final of the East Cheshire League and after a great effort were runners up to Tytherington.

“Similarly the Bell Cup ladies team had some brilliant home and away wins in this prestigious Manchester and District Ladies Golf Association event, making it to the finals day at Pike Fold Golf Club, where they were sadly beaten in the semi-finals by the eventual winners Delamere Forest.

“What wonderful team efforts and the first time the club has seen two teams make it so far in local competitions. Not to be outdone, there were some outstanding individual successes.

“Debbie Hirons qualified for the regional final of the EWGA medal and subsequently the final of this national competition at Woodhall Spa Golf Club were she finished 11th overall in the final.

“Chris McEwan and Tracey Taylor made it through to the national PING final at Gainsborough Golf Club where they both received a PING golf bag.

“Smaller teams also starred in competitions run by Cheshire Ladies Golf this year.

“Di Stow, Debbie Hirons and Joan Hughes won the Cheshire County Centenary Rosebowl at Wilmslow Golf Club with a score of 79 stableford points while Sara Caldwell and Debbie Brazier won the Cheshire Stableford Foursomes at Delamere Golf Club, with a score of 40 stableford points.

“Not to be outdone, High Legh Park Golf Club’s junior captain – Georgia Allen – came second in the Cheshire Juniors Stella Watson Trophy.”

“It was a wonderful year for this friendly, thriving ladies section.”
