PLAYERS have until New Year’s Eve to enter the Mid Cheshire Table Tennis League Championships.

Eight different events are in play, with the competition kicking off on Sunday, January 5, with singles and doubles in the veterans over 40s age group as well as over 60s singles and Division Two singles.

On Sunday, January 12, play will move onto open singles and doubles, Division Three singles and drawn doubles.

Finals night will be held on Tuesday, April 7.

Meanwhile, in the Super League, Sparks are a point clear at the top of Division One after beating Wreckers 7-3.

Shaun Hall was in imperious form for Sparks – his evening included a straight sets win over current league champion Terry Turner.

George Abbott Butchers and Tigers are both a point further back after both picked up victories in week three.

The Butchers thrashed Raptors 10-0, with Wayne Percival, Brian Johns and George Abbott all picking up maximums, while Tigers battled to a 6-4 win over Lemmings as Winston Jacobs won three games and Craig Lee two.

Victoria Club are the next challengers and they had a comfortable 9-1 win over bottom side Winsford.

In Division Two, Bears moved into second position with a game in hand on leaders Cobras after thrashing the table-toppers 8-2.

Paul Curley and Andy Edwards were both in top form for Bears while Ian Massey chipped in with a five-set victory.

John Jestin and Dave Motherwell both won three matches each to help Hawks to a 7-3 win at Lab Rats while the closest match of the week saw Sticklebacks edge out Manweb to win 6-4.

Division Three leaders Snakes cruised to a 10-0 win over Rangers while Kinetics fought to 7-3 win over the improving Lostock Smashers, with Martin Selby taking a maximum.
