VICTORIA Club 1 will feature in the quarter-finals of the Mid-Cheshire Table Tennis League’s Mike Johns Memorial Handicap Knockout.

The Holmes Chapel side will face Romans in a last-eight tie to take place week commencing March 23, 2020.

They will do so as one of four sides who progressed via a walkover, as four clubs were unable to field teams.

Rangers conceded to Victoria Club 1, Tigers withdrew against Romans, Wreckers were unable to face Vikings and Sparks conceded to Hawks.

The quarter-final draw is Victoria 1 v Romans, Lemmings v Smashers, Vikings v Raptors, Hawks v Winsford.

Victoria Club 2 were knocked out by Raptors this week.

Two wins were secured for Raptors by Alan Darlington, two by Chris Snape and one by Simon Lafferty.

The Vic Club’s second string’s only win of the night came in the opening match, with Michael Boden overcoming Simon Lafferty.

Snape secured the win with a 22-20 third set win over Pete Williams.

Elsewhere, Winsford beat Sticklebacks 5-4, a win which included three wins from Garry Owen and one each for Andy Beswick and John Mullins.

The match see-sawed back and to, before Winsford levelled at 4-4, with the final game seeing Owen take the victory, overcoming a 6-start to Charles Davies; winning 21-13 in the third set.

The juniors of Lostock Smashers overcame top-flight George Abbotts Butchers 5-3, while Lemmings beat Bears 5-1.
