FOOTBALL teams at Wilmslow High School have progressed in the Cheshire Cup.

The under 14s girls' side played 11-a-side as a team for the first time in the first round of the Cheshire Cup against Eaton Bank and showed great sportsmanship in a 6-1 win.

Amelie Long and Cassie Edghill each scored twice, while Allyia Richards and Elisabeth Vale also found the net.

The under 16s boys safely navigated Penketh High School from Warrington in the second round.

Wilmslow needed to produce a fantastic, battling performance against a tough team to secure their 4-1 success.

Dan Rodrigues hit the mark twice, with Jimmy Burling and player-of-the-match George Halfpenney also notching goals.

Stand-in goalkeeper Isaac Pugh pulled off an outstanding penalty save.

A physical Penketh High side proved to be too strong for Wilmslow's under 16s girls on the day and marched on to the second round at their expense.

Jess Davidson was Wilmslow's player of the match.
