TRACY Smith came up trumps in the Alderley Edge Golf Club women's medal final.

Her score of 79 put her ahead of Jo McGregor, Karen Fitch and Olwen Davies, all 82.

The subsidiary stableford was won by Alison Roberts with 26 points, one more than Mary O’Toole.

A nine-hole stableford at Alderley Edge was won by Duncan McPherson with 20 points from Paul Finney, 18, A Sutton, 16, and Alex Campbell, 15.

Sunday stableford action at Styal Golf Club had junior star Sam McLeod winning a card play-off on 35 points from John McBryer and Neil Brownhill, one more than Ivan Bloor.

H Billington and J Molloy were clear winners of the Challenge Trophy at Styal with 41 points, with S Middleton and S James, 38, their nearest rivals.

A 12-hole stableford for Styal ladies was won by Mel Hill with 21 points, well clear of Pat Chadwick, 14, and Lynsey Forsythe, 13.

In a 123 team stableford for Davenport’s men, Mike Upton led C Massey and P McDongah to a winning 85 points, one more than A Anderson, D Stock and C Bamford.

Medal action for Mottram Hall’s men placed Kevin Barker on top after a card play-off on 68 with Dom Swindells and hot on their heels with 69 were Peter Draper and Mohammed Nadeem.

A three-division stableford for Prestbury’s men had the divisions led in by David Aitchison with 41 points, Eric McNichol after a cpo on 36 with David Smyth and Philip Dodd with a massive 44.

A singles stableford for Prestbury ladies saw Kim Mortimer in charge of Division One with 30 points, three more than Gill Mellor and in Division Two Gill Buxton led in with 25 points, one more than Elizabeth Dunckly and Vicki Keys and the nine-hole stableford was won by Caroline Harrison-Croft with 17.

The fifth Winter Pairs qualifier at Shrigley Hall was won by M Brierley and A Brereton with 51 points from D Chesters and L Moores 49.
