OLIVER Johnson's progress in athletics is recognised in a nomination for an award.

The Holmes Chapel youngster is in the running for the Junior Achiever of the Year prize in the Everybody Junior Awards.

Oliver has gone from strength to strength and started competing at the Cheshire League Championships last July, where he managed to gain podium places in the sprint races and long jump.

For the award, he faces competition from Oliver Edwards, Wistaston; Holly-Mae Coghlan, Crewe; Lucie Heathcote, Biddulph and Ned Pearson, Macclesfield.

The winners will be revealed on awards night at Holmes Chapel Community Centre on Saturday, November 9.

Nearly 90 nominations have been received over seven categories.

Junior Member of the Year: Grace Murray, Crewe; Bella Morris, Crewe; Izzy Serventi, Wynbury.

Sports Personality of the Year 5-8 years: Bella McKinney, Nantwich; Lucien Taylor, Crewe; Corey Fahy, Rode Heath; Ned Pearson, Macclesfield.

Sports Personality of the Year 9-11 years: Oliver Edwards, Wistaston; Lily Maskill, Middlewich; Lucie Heathcote, Biddulph.

Junior Achiever: Oliver Edwards, Wistaston; Holly-Mae Coghlan, Crewe; Lucie Heathcote, Biddulph; Ned Pearson, Macclesfield; Oliver Johnson, Holmes Chapel.
