KNUTSFORD Hockey Club Ladies achieved their first away victory of the season in a hard fought 5-3 win against Deeside Ramblers' seconds.

Both sides were evenly matched in the opening minutes until Deeside eventually broke the deadlock after a period of sustained pressure.

However, the scores were soon level after a Knutsford short corner was coolly converted by Nat Riley.

A half-time change of formation allowed Knutsford to push higher up the pitch, with Millie Fitton finding attacking space, while saves from Lucy White kept the visitors in the game at the other end.

Knutsford’s increased ambition soon paid dividends when Jess Flack met a cross following a well-timed run, with Riley now the provider.

After one more goal apiece, the result of an exciting game was decided in the final ten minutes when the combined stamina of Suzi Weir and Sarah Fielding stretched the opposition defence to create a brace of goals for Gill Lunt.

The women will look to extend their winning run when they meet Macclesfield at home on Saturday, push back at noon.
