A MILESTONE has been reached by Holmes Chapel Boxing Club.

Jonny Foster became the first pugilist to represent the club on the Macauley Moran Memorial Show in Fallowfield, Manchester.

Foster was matched against John McDermott from St Johns ABC of Chorlton in a skills bout and produced excellent form and technique over three rounds.

That was followed by James Dowd making his fight debut against Finn Raynor from Blackrod ABC in Chorley.

After a tough three rounds, Dowd achieved victory with a unanimous points decision.

The club first opened in January as a community boxing club for Holmes Chapel and surrounding areas.

With support from local businesses and partners, the club moved into its own premises in June with a ring, bags and other training equipment to help the boxers progress.

Now boasting over 70 boxers, six volunteer coaches and a new girls-only class launching in October, Foster and Dowd are leading the way and have a lot of support.
