THE President's Putter contested by Styal Golf Club Seniors has been won by Gordon Hamilton.

He took the prize after finishing on 39 points and edging out Neil Cowan in a card play-off.

Graham Swann, David Melia and Tony Nabarro were all hot on their heels on 37.

More ‘major’ action at Styal saw the Silver Jubilee Trophy won by David Murray with 39 points ahead of Rick Worsley, 38, and James Carter, 37.

The 9-hole Friday Frolics at Styal was won by Paul Sutherland with 20 points from Jordan Howard, 19.

Alderley Edge Golf Club’s men played for the JC Brown Bowl and Michael Pogson was in a league of his own with 46 points, seven clear of Carl Parnell and Tony Cooper.

Edge’s ladies played a stableford supporting the Golf Foundation and Sue Freeman led in with 37 points from Tracy Smith, 36, and Justine Jackson, Liz Gardner and Mary O’Toole, all 33.

Stockport Golf Club provided a well presented and challenging course for Cheshire Ladies from across the county playing medal mode for the Margaret Sangster Salver.

As so often happens there was a sting in the tail with the last player out on the course, Wad Grayson from Ringway Golf Club, posting the best nett score of 73 off her 15 handicap to be the proud winner of the coveted Margaret Sangster Salver that was presented to her by Cheshire Ladies Captain Jeanne Bell of Royal Liverpool GC.

The ‘major’ Harry Pierpoint Memorial Trophy at Prestbury provided a terrific competition with Steven White winning a cpo on 69 from Steven Savage and Cheshire star Josh Turnock.
