SCHOOLBOY footballers got a taste of action on the continent.
Thirty-five students from Wilmslow High School years nine and 10 played in matches against Ed Moratalaz club sides during their recent tour to Madrid, Spain.
But playing matches was only a part of the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The boys participated in two training sessions delivered by Real Madrid's academy coaches at their impressive first-team training complex.
Stadium tours of the Santiago Bernabéu (Real Madrid) and the Wanda Metropolitano (Atletico Madrid) were also on the agenda.
Wilmslow's under 14s B team defeated Ed Moratalaz B 4-0, with goals from Tom Long, two, Liam Johnson and man-of-the-match Amaan Malik.
That was the only win for the tourists in four matches.
Harry Jenkins was the stand-out performer for the under 14s A team in their 2-0 loss, while Michael Vale took the plaudits in the under 15s team's 4-0 fall.
Dan Rodrigues found the net twice in the under 15s B team's 3-2 loss.
And Rodrigues pipped Malik to the goal of the tour award with his sensational acrobatic bicycle kick into the top corner.
That brought about a pitch invasion from the subs bench and managing staff to celebrate.
In their down time, the players took in some sights in the city centre and went ten-pin bowling.
