LINDOW pushed Alderley Edge all the way to the wire in their T20 Group Eight match.

Edge, two divisions higher in the Cheshire County League, notched 150-7 in their overs, while Lindow fell just short on 143-8.

Rana Rauf took 2-21 as Alderley Edge attempted to assemble a target out of Lindow’s reach.

Calum Rowe, 42, and Charlie Reid, 44 not out, were their highest scorers.

Lindow coach Atiq Uz-Zaman led the response with 46 runs, while Jake Hill (2-30) and Toby Pickup (2-34) got among the wickets.

Edge lead the table with two wins from two, having also defeated Mobberley, while Lindow are third after having defeated Bramhall on their previous T20 outing.

Two days later Lindow increased their lead at the top of Cheshire County League Division Two thanks to a 74-run victory against Stockport.

Lindow would no doubt have preferred to have set a higher target, with 155 all out giving Stockport a chance.

Major Khan (41) and Alex Matthews (34) were the leading batsmen.

The Lindow bowlers then made light work of the Stockport batsmen, Saleem Akram (4-22) and Matthews (3-24) helping to skittle out the visitors for 81.

Alderley Edge secured a comfortable ECB Premier League victory at Grappenhall, who were bowled out for 96 with Ed Foster taking 6-24.

Rowe (55 not out) led by example as Edge rattled up 100-3, with Ian Hall taking the three wickets.
