LADY captain Mel Hill led from the front in the latest Styal Golf Club Winter League contest.

The 23 points she scored put her ahead of Pat Chadwick, 22, and Lynsey Forsythe, 20.

A two-from-three stableford at Styal had R Downes, B Donohue and J Carter ruling the roost with 84 points.

Their closest rivals were A Murray, D Murray and S Maxwell, 83, and E Birchenough, I Barber and R Sanderson, 82.

The Friday nine-hole frolics at Styal needed a card play-off on 22 points to see Jeffrey Chadwick pip top spot from Peter Davies.

Meanwhile, a women’s stableford at Alderley Edge Golf Club was won at a canter by Tracy Smith.

Her 23 points was well clear of Alison Roberts, 19, and Yvonne Grundy, 18.

Draws have been completed for the final Manchester Alliance Inter Club Knockout competitions, the biggest of their kind in the country.

The Archie Preston Trophy for Mixed Foursomes sees the clubs battling to reach finals day at Bolton Old Links GC in October.

The draw includes Styal v Stamford, while going through with byes into round one are Alderley Edge, Macclesfield and Wilmslow.

The Alliance Seniors Match Play Knockout continues to go from strength to strength with the final being hosted by Manchester GC.

Going through with byes into the last 64 are Davenport, Macclesfield, Styal and Tytherington

In the Williams BMW Junior Team Knockout the first-round match for Styal is at home against Rossendale.
