GREENALLS PSO came within seconds of shocking Cheshire League Premier Division leaders Altrincham reserves on Saturday.

The sides shared six goals in a topsy-turvy second half at Long Lane, with Ben McWilliams pouncing to fire Greens ahead after the visitors failed to clear Gaz Fox’s cross.

Altrincham showed why they are leading the title race with two goals in quick succession to go 2-1, but they did not bank on a Greenalls fightback.

Ellis Houghton headed home Cal Burgess’ cross at the far post to equalise before substitute Will Smith put Greens ahead late on after stealing the ball from the goalkeeper.

However, with the full-time whistle imminent, a hooked Altrincham cross looped over the Greenalls goalkeeper and into the net to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw.

Daten also took on title challengers and, like their neighbours, they emerged with a point as they drew 2-2 with second-place Pilkington at Charnock Road.

However, the Atoms will be disappointed not to have taken all three points after goals from Ryan Meadows and Daniel Whalley saw them lead 2-0 with just 10 minutes remaining.

Eagle Sports also drew 2-2 on Saturday, with Chris Quirk and Ed Burthem scoring their goals at Denton Town.

In League One, Ashley Chester’s goal secured all three points for Moore United as they won 1-0 at Styal.

Orford and Grappenhall Sports both took a point, with both of their games ended 2-2.

Stephen Boden and Daniel Hutchins netted for Orford at Ford Motors while Grappenhall shared the spoils with Golborne Sports.

Meanwhile, Rylands reserves were beaten 2-0 at Club AZ in League Two.
