Elsewhere, Judy Brown came close to a world record time during her latest event.

However, her outstanding performances did give Warrington Masters Swimming Club two more European records to add to their collection.

Brown, from Woolston, smashed the European 200m backstroke record in the 55-59 age group by more than six seconds when clocking 2mins 38.9secs in the Swim England South East Masters Championships in Crawley.

Her time narrowly missed the world record and was the third fastest swim of all time for this event.

Brown, who is treasurer of her club, followed this the next day with a superb 1min 14.75secs for the 100m backstroke event, posting another European record.

"I am really thrilled about this achievement, and I would like to thank all at Warrington Livewire and Warrington Masters Swimming Club for their support," she said.
