WILMSLOW High School trampolinists will be bouncing in Ireland next month, writes Nathan Okell.

This follows great success during December in the north west round of a national schools’ competition.

Forty-eight pupils represented the school in Wigan earlier this month, with 15 of them securing a top-three finish, meaning they qualify for the North of England Finals in Ireland in January.

Wilmslow High's 10 competing teams secured a top-three place.

The eight teams finishing in first or second spot qualified for the North of England Finals, where Wilmslow’s students will be seeking to win places in the National Trampolining Finals.

Thirty-three pupils progress but there were some close calls too in Wigan.

Other outstanding individual performances came in the intermediate under 15s category, with Alfie Kenworthy finishing in fourth place, just missing out on qualification by .05 of a mark.

Also in fourth place were Amy Worsley, Jonathan Bradley, Ben Dickenson, Clara Edler and Thomas Greenough, while Abby Regan finished sixth.

Earlier this year, Wilmslow’s under 19s intermediate girls’ team of Molly Andrew, Gracie Davies, Shauna Greaves and Georgia Long finished first for the third time in the national finals in Belfast. And Katie Phythian came out on top in the under 19s novice category.
