LINDSAY Rachubka scored a hat-trick to secure a seventh victory in a row for Wilmslow Hockey Club’s women’s firsts.

Their 3-1 victory at Didsbury Greys ensures they will go into the Christmas break on top of the North Hockey Women’s League Division Two South West.

Wilmslow took the lead when top scorer Rachubka rounded the keeper and slotted home.

She soon doubled her tally as she latched onto a pass from Maddy Troup, who had skilfully weaved her way through the Didsbury defence.

Didsbury had their best spell just after half time and they were able to claw back a scrappy goal, forcing the visitors onto the back foot.

However, after a penalty flick was awarded, Rachubka confidently scored her 16th goal of the season to round off the victory.

Elsewhere, the women’s seconds beat Macclesfield 6-0 and the thirds drew 1-1 with Oxton’s seconds.

The fourths beat neighbours Alderley Edge 3-2, while the fifths drew 1-1 away at Edge’s sevenths.

The men’s firsts could not follow the women in ending 2018 on a high note as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at Neston.

They started well and Ben Jones flicked into the top corner to give them the lead.

Neston equalised shortly afterwards, but Joe Booth’s wonderful pass then found Pete Hallinan, who rounded the keeper to give Wilmslow the lead yet again.

However, they could not hold onto their lead in the second half as Neston stormed back to take victory.

The seconds enjoyed a much better afternoon as they thrashed Leigh’s firsts 14-3, overrunning their opponents with some slick passing and finishing.

The thirds and fourths both drew – 2-2 and 1-1 with Macclesfield and Sandbach respectively – while the fifths were beaten 3-1 by Alderley Edge’s sevenths.
