WILMSLOW Hockey Club’s women’s first team put in a ten-out-of-ten display to thrash their Wrexham counterparts on Saturday and remain top of the table.

In their final home game before the new year, they won 10-0 against a side that has been a bogey team for them in the past.

Annika Hall gave them the lead inside the first minute before Becca Healey and Charlie Westbrook-Platts completed the first-half scoring.

Lindsay Rachubka struck with a penalty stroke before Emilie Kelman and Carla Botha put the result beyond all doubt.

Healey and Kelman both doubled their tally before the former completed her hat-trick and Botha made sure Wilmslow hit double figures – the perfect preparation for a trip to local rivals Timperley on Saturday.

The men’s firsts were beaten 4-2 at Deeside’s seconds, with Pete Hallinan and Ben Jones on the scoresheet.

The seconds won 3-1 at home to Preston’s thirds, while Wilmslow’s own thirds returned from a long trip to Rhyl with a 1-1 draw.

The fourths drew 2-2 with Timperley and the fifths went down narrowly to Lymm.

The women’s seconds played out a goalless draw with their Timperley counterparts, with the thirds losing 1-0 to Timperley’s fourths.
