Knutsford 4-1 Liverpool Sefton

KEELAN Sherwani’s hat-trick was a highlight for in-form Knutsford on an afternoon when they demonstrated the depth of their squad.

The Black Knights were without co-captains Tom Howard and Jonny Price, along with several others, but were still too strong for their visitors from Sefton.

A sixth win of the campaign keeps the promoted side third in the North Men’s League’s Division Two West.

However they can expect a test when they visit Alderley Edge’s seconds on Saturday, push-back 1.30pm.

It is a short journey they make with confidence high after their persistence was rewarded last time out.

They had two goals disallowed and had been repeatedly thwarted by the visitors’ goalkeeper at Westfield Drive before Sherwani’s chipped finish put them in front.

He squeezed in a stylish second too shortly afterwards to add a final flourish to a flowing team move.

Sefton halved their arrears before the break, leaving net-minder Tom Wright with no chance of making a save.

Knutsford took the initiative after the interval and moved further in front when Matt Kennerley-Ryan pushed the ball into an open goal after he was picked out in space.

An efficient press again forced the away side to turn over possession with time running out and Sherwani made it 4-1 after Graeme Wolfenden had evaded an attempt by three defenders to stop his forward progress.

It preserves a perfect home record to date this season.
