Bebington Ladies 4-1 Knutsford Ladies

KNUTSFORD can be encouraged by a battling display during the second-half of their game against Bebington last weekend.

They reached the interval 3-0 down but came out fighting and pulled a goal back when the returning Hannah Webb converted clinically from a short corner.

The speed in attack of Sarah Fielding and Lily Wasilewski caused problems for the right-hand side of the home team’s defence, although the visitors could not close a gap further.

Instead they conceded a fourth goal late on.

Knutsford had started promisingly when Gill Lunt, promising junior Katie Welch and Webb raided on the right only to be stopped by their opponents’ defence.

Bebington broke through following as series of short corners before doubling their lead following a counter-attack.

The contest ebbed one way and then another before the home team added to their advantage when they converted a penalty flick after a Knutsford player blocked a goal-bound shot on the line with a foot.

Warrington are the visitors to Westfield Drive for a Cheshire Women’s League Division Two on Saturday when push-back is at midday.
