Oxton 2nd 5-3 Winnington Park

WINNINGTON Park fell to a fourth defeat from their past five league matches following a high-scoring encounter with Oxton’s seconds.

Tom Hughes’ goal ensured they reached the interval on terms before their hosts scored three times from a short corner afterwards.

Hughes was on target again, and Paul Lancaster netted too for the Northwich side, before they were hit with a sucker punch when the home team added a fifth.

HARRISON Austin’s goal proved in vain when Winnington Park’s seconds attempted to extend a winning run to three matches.

He cancelled out an early opener from Deeside Ramblers, who scored from their first short corner inside five minutes, only for the visitors to move in front again in the second-half when a striker laid flat his stick to divert a powerfully-struck shot into the net.

A FATHER and his son set Winnington Park’s thirds on a course for a comfortable victory when they visited Deeside.

John and Ryan Crouchley were both on the score-sheet for the visitors, who were grateful to goalkeeper Tim Wylie – picked afterwards as their man-of-the-match – for reaching the interval with a 2-1 lead.

They made sure of maximum points in the second-half thanks to goals from Tom Howard and Liam McKee, who claimed a brace.

Winnington Park 4ths 5-2 Deeside Ramblers 7th

WINNINGTON Park’s fourths overturned an interval deficit to follow up their first win of the campaign seven days earlier with another.

They led initially after Freddie Long converted following fine approach play by Owen Mapleson only to fall behind by the break.

Jake Spencer-Kellett’s brilliant reverse-stick effort made it 2-2 before he found the net again from a short corner.

His third goal put the game out of Deeside’s reach before Nathan Gee added gloss.
