Didsbury Northern 2nd 1-1 Knutsford
HISTORY repeated for these two teams when their meeting in Manchester finished the same way it had done last season.
The Black Knights, depleted by the absence of player-coach Graeme Wolfenden and Tom Adams, will be happier with a draw after having to reshuffle their line-up.
They had to resist early pressure from their hosts, promoted along with them to the North Men’s League at the end of last term, and fell behind from a short corner.
It jolted the visitors, and they enjoyed a productive spell.
There was a reward too when Joe Wright, who had scored a hat-trick in a 6-1 thrashing of Lytham St Annes seven days earlier, also converted a chance created after a short corner.
Knutsford stayed solid at the back in the second-half, much to the frustration of their opponents, and held on to earn a deserved share of the spoils.
They can be expect to be tested again when they travel to Crewe Vagrants on Saturday, push-back 1pm.
Meanwhile Knutsford’s Ladies resume their quest to register a first victory of the campaign in the Cheshire League when they host Macclesfield seconds at Westfield Drive.
They sit bottom of Division Two after seven successive defeats.
Push-back is at midday.
