Winnington Park 3-3 Bowdon 3rd

WINNINGTON Park were denied a victory last weekend by opponents that scored twice during the closing stages after they tired.

The Northwich side had taken the lead when Paul Lancaster finished smartly after Paul Stackhouse’s short-corner was diverted into his path, although the visitors to Sir John Deane’s College levelled in similar fashion.

Goals from Harry Garner and then Mike Dodd established a 3-1 lead at the interval.

However a depleted Park side struggled to cope with their guests’ press in the second-half and conceded twice with time running out.

THE visitors were playing catch-up from the moment a shot from a short-corner sneaked through the legs of goalkeeper Sam Robbins.

Park rallied though and they were rewarded when Matt Howard found the net at the back-post at the end of a well-worked move

Bowdon edged in front a second time though when they converted a penalty flick and later added a third goal to secure maximum points.

A SWIFT counter-attack settled the outcome of a close encounter and leaves Winnington Park’s fourths still searching for a first victory of the season.

They fielded a side with a mix of experienced players alongside promising youngsters, and held their own before they were caught off-guard by a speedy breakaway that ended with Iain Richards scoring the only goal.

The away side had more possession in the second-half, during which man of the match Matt Morley shone in midfield, but without finding a way past in-form Warrington goalkeeper Richard Bloomfield.
