KNUTSFORD have racked up more than 120 points in two games but can still improve.

That’s the ominous message from coach Chris Edmonds after watching Blues demolish Sefton’s seconds on their return to action in the North West Intermediate League last Saturday.

A trip to unbeaten Anselmians seconds this weekend will be a sterner test.

“We gave away too many penalties when we started to tire,” he said.

“That’s something we’ll work on because better opposition will make us pay.”

Knutsford’s defence still restricted their guests to a single try while Sam Cook, standing in as captain in Sam Bensky’s absence, led a fine attacking effort with four tries.

The first of those arrived inside two minutes when he gathered a loose ball and Alex Malcolm kicked a conversion.

Alex Davies, hooking for the day, surprised Sefton’s front row when he darted to the line following a lineout.

Cook dotted down again before the break, another try that Malcolm improved, to establish a 21-0 lead.

Blues’ forwards laid a foundation for the next try, again scored by Cook from Russ Finn’s perfectly-weighted pass.

And he notched another after catching Adam Ellary’s chipped kick.

Knutsford regrouped after Sefton notched a consolation try, and Jim Southall added his name to a list of scorers following fine approach play by substitute Ted Parr and Davies.

Max Davies and Clifford Alvarez claimed a brace apiece either side of Adam Cornes running from behind the home team’s 22-metre line to the cross the visitors’ whitewash.
