AN Alderley Edge Golf Club singles stableford for men waswon by Ken Hall.

He led in with 42 points from Richard Marshall, 41, and Chris Regan, Stephen Lomas and Alistair Stewart, all 39.

Brian Williams, Howard Stringer and Peter Will, all 35.

A seniors yellow tee stableford at Styal GolfClub saw David Hollick on top with 41 points from Paul Jones, 40, and David Jones, 38.

A Saturday stableford at Styal Golf Club saw division one topped by James Carter with 38 points, one more than Jeffrey Chadwick, Jon Roper and Hilton Alexander.

It was also close in division two with Gavin Jamieson on top with 37 points, one more than Dave Rice and Andrew Murray.

The Friday Frolics at Styal needed a cpo on 19 points to take Max Green home from Harry Craven.

There were plenty of Styal’s junior stars in action for the Amy Watson Wright Memorial Trophy and Joe Blackburn was the proud winner with 68 from jack Muir and Charlie Watts, both 70.

A Sunday Stableford at Styal was won at a canter by David Blackburn who posted an impressive 42 points to finish ahead of Andrew Bennett 37 and Andy Grundy and Dylan Bennett, both 36.

Reddish Vale’s Mackenzie course provided a superb venue and great weather for the annual match between Cheshire Boys and Yorkshire Boys.

Yorkshire came into the fixture with an 11-year unbeaten run against a young Cheshire team who only had two u18’s in their ranks but with plenty of players in the u16 and u14 levels who had enjoyed a very successful and unbeaten season.

The closeness of the contest was shown in the morning foursomes with the only win for Cheshire provided by Remy Miller (Prestbury) and acting Captain Archie Palmer (Bramhall) with halves from Liam Gobin (Sandiway) and Sam Johnson (Astbury), Will Lucas (Wilmslow) and Nathan Newton (Upton-by-Chester) and Charlie Ashbrook (Portal) and Oliver Pierce (Didsbury) seeing Yorkshire with a slender one point lead.

Cheshire came out with all guns blazing in the afternoon singles with wins from Remy Miller, Archie Palmer, Liam Gobin, Will Lucas and Charlie Ashbrook backed by halves from Sam Johnson and Nathan Newton giving them a commanding lead.

Yorkshire showed their traditional fighting spirit winning four matches to level the scores and it was all eyes on the last match out with Jonjo Ashbrook (Portal keeping his nerve to win by two holes to give Cheshire victory by 9.5- 8.5 and break the long-running White Rose run of success.

The Yorkshire Captain presented Archie Palmer with the Bickerton Trophy and Cheshire team manager Mike Jones was delighted with an excellent performance by a very young and promising team.
