Warrington Ladies 3-2 Knutsford Ladies
KNUTSFORD almost clinched a draw from their Cheshire Women’s League opener last weekend after fighting back from three goals down.
Sarah Fielding was on target twice, on both occasions reacting quickly to force home a loose ball, to spark her side’s recovery.
They were grateful too to in-form goalkeeper Lucy White, who made saves that kept the visitors in contention, before Hannah Quinn’s shot – from Millie Fitton’s pass – struck an upright.
Able only to field 10 players because of unavailability, they trailed to goals from Meg Sutch and Tammy Finlayson as Warrington made a swift start.
Emma Barlow added a third goal for the home team after a run down the right.
In between, Steph Roberts’ spectacular clearance – spooning a goal-bound effort out of the top corner on her reverse side – had been a highlight for Knutsford.
They host Neston's 2nds at Westfield Drive on Saturday, when push-back is at midday.
