LEE Mannion's goal two minutes from time earned for Knutsford a deserved share of the spoils from a draw at 10-man Daten on Tuesday night.

He stayed calm after substitute Kallum McDonough headed fellow replacement Barney Wynne's cross into his path, turning smartly before steering the ball into the corner.

It halted a run of three successive defeats for Reds.

Playing in a different formation to one deployed by management team Jordan Gunter and Jamie Mottershead for a 1-0 defeat at Congleton Vale on Saturday, they created more chances than their hosts in the first-half.

Michael Schofield dithered after being picked out by Matthew Harrison's raking pass, while Mark Evans lifted a chip too high.

Bradley West's header also struck the woodwork before the break.

It was frustrating then for Knutsford to fall behind shortly afterwards when a glancing header from a free-kick crept into the corner.

Their cause was helped when Daten were reduced to 10 men following a reckless tackle on Mannion, and Reds took the initiative.

West's free-kick from distance prompted the home team's goalkeeper to save brilliantly before Mannion's moment of magic brought with it the dividend of an equalising goal.

Reds return to action at home to Pilkington on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

They then host Crewe on Tuesday, kick-off 6.30pm.
