ROB Clarke was pushed to the wire before he got his hands on the Sid Jones Legends silverware.

The Tatton cue man clinched the Knutsford and District League prize on the final black of the one-day event at Tatton on Sunday.

He edged past Brook Street’s Francis Evans in the decider, after ending the hopes of Adrian Hough in the quarter finals and Steven Bloor in the last four.

Evans knocked out Rick Peers in the semi finals.

After three editions of this memorial event for over 65s in honour of the long-time league president, it will merge with the Taylor Trophy next season to form a Taylor Jones Legends competition for over 60s.

Elsewhere, Brook Street kept their outside chances going with a fine 5-2 win over last year’s runners-up Alderley Union.

A much needed 6-1 win by Mobberley D at home to Wilmslow RBL keeps their promotion hopes alive in Division Two, leaving them six points adrift of Mere A who had no fixture.
