VICTORIA narrowed a gap to Mid Cheshire Super League leaders Sparks to a single point after prevailing at back-markers Cobras.

A win in straight sets for Geoff Mee against Brian McGee denied them a whitewash.

Tigers continued their pursuit of the top two by brushing aside Manweb after Winston Duff and Craig Lee both racked up a hat-trick of singles wins.

However league president Alf Perry, aged 87, and Dave Nelson took sets off Ben Chan – returning to action after a month-long absence – to make it 8-2 at the finish.

Raptors made the most of Wreckers being without star player Terry Turner to record a 9-1 win that avenged a defeat by the same score when they met in January.

Bears claimed top spot in Division Two as a reward for whitewashing Sticklebacks with Steve Stockton, Paul Curley and Andy Edwards all returning unblemished scorecards.

Closest-rivals, Daresbury and Lemmings, shared the spoils after a 5-5 draw.

Dave Etchells was unbeaten for the latter.

Winsford were comfortable victors at Valiants, where Garry Owen and substitute Phil Monton both scored unbeaten threes.

In Division Three, Wolves were made to work for a 6-4 success by bottom side Wanderers.

Phil Lingwood claimed a personal treble for the leaders.

Kieran Underwood recovered from losing the first two sets against Mahmoud Elamin to win a five-set thriller for Wanderers, a trick he repeated in with Andy Beswick when they joined forces for the doubles rubber.

Vikings climb to second in the table following a whitewash of Romans, while Stuart Hawkes’ success in straight sets against Phil Cheek prevented Kinetics suffering the same fate at Snakes.
