MILLIE Turner has been appointed club captain of Bristol City Women for the 2017-18 season.

Turner, 21, from Wilmslow, joined the club in January from Everton Ladies and the midfielder made an immediate impression during the Spring Series.

The versatile former Wilmslow High School student and England age-group international played in every game of the Spring Series, featuring at both centre-half and in central midfield.

Manager Willie Kirk said: “I am delighted that Millie has accepted my offer to become captain for the new season.

"She leads by example on and off the pitch and epitomises what I expect from all of the players at the club.

“We have a great culture that Millie really buys in to. She’s a big character in the dressing room and always has a smile on her face. It’s great to have someone like her around to continue to drive this club forward."
