A NEW girls team has received a message of support from the World Cricketer of the Year.
Lindow Cricket Club girls' team, preparing to make their eagerly awaited debut, have received 'good luck' wishes from the world’s leading player, Australian superstar Ellyse Perry.
Ellyse has congratulated the club on launching a girls' team and you can watch her message to the girls in the video above.
Lindow's girls' team will be playing their first match on Sunday, April 30, when the club hosts a tournament.
It would be hard to find a better role model for the girls than Ellyse.
After having made her Australia debut at cricket and football aged 16 she went on to play in World Cups in both sports and was named Player of the Series in the 2015 Ashes.
She is part of the Australia World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament and will no doubt be keeping an eye on the progress of the Lindow girls too.
