WILMLSOW High School's under 15s girls' tennis team have reached the national finals.
Olivia French, Ellie Aldrich, Jessica Purdy and Freya Hogg secured the title of Midlands Champions this week and will go on to represent the school in Bolton on December 5 and 6.
In the Midlands Regional Finals at Tipton Sports Academy on Monday, they faced Bedford Girls’ School in their opening fixture and won three singles matches as well as one doubles for a 4-2 victory that qualified them for that day's final against Hagley Roman Catholic School.
Some impressive play in the singles matches led to Wilmslow taking a 3-1 lead into the doubles.
A further victory in the first of the doubles matches confirmed Wilmslow's place in the UK finals next month when they come up against the winners from the other three regional events – Kirkham Grammar School, Millfield School and Culford School.
