FORMER players returned to Knutsford Hockey Club on Sunday to try a sport they love.
More than 30 turned out at the leisure centre for a Back to Hockey session, part of a campaign by governing body England Hockey aimed at adults who haven’t picked up their stick for years.
“There was a real mix of people,” said organiser Debbie Jamison.
“Some had been having a rest since the end of the winter season, while others had not played for a long time.
“When we added together all of the sabbaticals, we discovered more than 100 years missed by those who had stopped playing!”
Coach Dave Rees had the participants pushing, slapping, hitting and dribbling the ball during the first part of the session.
Three teams then contested a friendly winner-stays-on competition, during which they had a chance to show off their reverse-stick set pieces.
