Linley 3rd 0 Holmes Chapel 62
HOLMES Chapel set a marker down for May’s Plate cup final when they hammered fellow finalists Linley and Kidsgrove thirds in Division Five South on Saturday.
Young flanker Callum Grant-Smith opened the scoring following a lineout drive, with winger Angus Morison soon doubling their lead.
Joe Maddock, returning from a foot injury, added his name to the scoresheet and Scotsman Morison scored twice to complete a first-half hat-trick.
Jed Wragg, moving off his wing into the centres for the second dhalf, danced his way through the Linley back line to score between the posts.
Morison, also now in the centres, added his fourth and captain Dom Moss finished off a fine move before second-rower Dan Martin gathered his own kick to touch down.
Chapel lost Gavin Patton to a yellow card late on, but completed the rout with a man less when prop Will Mitchell barged over from close range.
