STUDENTS at the Studio School at Knutsford Academy joined forces with Knutsford Promenades organisers to help promote a series of workshops.

The theme of this year's Promenades, which takes place on Saturday, July 4, is 'Texts from the Front'.

Leading the Promenades along Princess Street and into Canute Place will be The Universal Soldier – a giant puppet created by artist Russell Kirk, as featured in last week's Guardian.

As part of the community engagement surrounding the event, Peaks and Plains Housing Trust has funded four workshops, led by Russell Kirk, where people of all ages can create large scale props which will be used as part of the Promenades.

"We needed some posters to help promote the workshops and were so pleased when The Studio School offered to help out," said Sarah Flannery, of the Knutsford Promenades.

"The brief was to be as creative as possible yet ensuring the Knutsford Promenades 'brand' was recognised - and we were impressed with the creativity and the professionalism of the students."

James Routs, responsible for Business Partnerships at Studio@Knutsford, said: "We are delighted to support the Knutsford Promenades, and very proud that two of our students volunteered their time over the half term holidays to design these excellent posters."

Connor Holah, student at Studio@Knutsford, added: "I really enjoyed working on this project with the theme ‘Texts from the Front’ and at the same time learning all about the Knutsford Promenades."

The workshops take place on Saturday, June 13 at The Welcome on Longridge and on Saturday, June 27at the Knutsford Methodist Church on Princess Street.

The sessions will run from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm.
