Chairman Julie Wade welcomed members to this months meeting and reminded everyone to purchase their tickets for the Christmas Lunch which will take place on December 2 at Plumley Village Hall. Julie then announced the winners of this months members competition, entitled ‘Wired for Effect’.
The winners are as follows: Novices and New Members 1. Lorraine Dorsett, 2. Lyn Pickens Intermediate 1. Felicia Dykstra, 2. Lillie Gradel Advanced 1. Win Ross, 2. Phyllis Stuffins, 3. Marilyn Makepeace-Warne Premier 1. Pat Bannister, 2. Joan Wilkinson, 3. Diana Jones.
Julie then introduced National Demonstrator, Ian Lloyd of Wilmslow. Ian’s demonstration was entitled ‘A Cheshire Christmas’.
Ian entertained us with amusing stories of his experiences running his florist shop in Wilmslow while producing an array of exquisite designs typical of the work. Ian used a variety of lovely containers and filled them with anthuriums, amaryllis, lilies, bird of paradise and ornamental cabbage.
The vote of thanks was given by Chris Gibbons.
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, 20th January at 2.00 pm at Plumley Village Hall. The demonstrator will be Alison Cooper of Salford with the title ‘Elemental’. The theme off the members’ competition is ‘Garden Snippets’. As always, visitors are welcome at a charge of £6.
