THIS month’s meeting of Lower Withington WI was a very lively one – Many other WIs were invited to a fashion show, Bucks Fizz and nibbles for the seventieth year of the WI.
There were a few notices. Committee nominations are needed for the next meeting.
Tombola items are needed for the Christmas Fair on December 5 and also items for the two hampers which have been sold – a pamper hamper and a homemade hamper.
Cheques were presented to four representatives of two local charities of £750.00 each. Donna Louise Children’s Trust and East Cheshire Hospice.
This was raised in April at a coffee morning by the Ladies of Lower Withington and Friends.
Delia Metcalfe who has shops in Knutsford, Macclesfield, Congleton and Leek told a little history of her business and then her models (including WI ladies) showed off a very large number of beautiful clothes.
The colours were very soft and flattering and leather is definitely one of this seasons must-haves.
The last items were a collection of one-off evening dresses which really had the ‘wow factor’. Sizes ranged from eight to 22 with larger ladies still able to be accommodated.
This was a very different evening and very enjoyable.
The meeting finished with a splendid rendition of Jerusalem.
The next meeting will be November 25 which is the AGM and the competition is a quotation.
