Goostrey Flower Club by Sue Mansfield

The AGM of Goostrey Flower Club was held this month in the Village Hall. The committee were all re-elected. Subscriptions remained the same. The committee were thanked for their hard work during the last year. After a delicious lunch members and visitors watched a delightful demonstration by Alison Cooper, A Grand Day Out. Alison is representing Cheshire Area at the National Competitions at Blackpool in November. The vote of thanks was given by Ann Stafford. Foyer flowers were by Sylvia Spurrell.

Chairman Marilyn Lloyd told members that Christmas Lunch would be December 3 at The Yellow Broom costing £25.00. There is a Christmas workshop on December 10 at Lower Withington Village Hall. Tickets cost £8.50. Orders are now being taken for the Flower Arranger magazine. Members were reminded that next month’s members’ competition title is ‘Christmas is coming’. Artificial material may be used and members were encouraged to enter.

On March 21, 2016 Cheshire Area of NAFAS are celebrating their Sapphire Anniversary at Chester Racecourse. There will be a demonstration by Julia Broadway, ‘Hello Broadway’, and members will enjoy afternoon tea. Tickets are £21.00. The next meeting on November 12 is our Christmas demonstration where Mark Entwistle, who worked at The Black Rose in Knutsford for 15 years, will put us in the Christmas mood. Mark has won many prestigious awards, including Gold at RHS shows.
