YOUNGSTERS put on a fantastic display of ballet at Knutsford Civic Centre on Saturday.

Fuchsia School of Dance presented its latest production, First Steps, with two shows over the day after a full dress rehearsal the day before.

More than 80 girls and boys from Knutsford, led by Wendy Arhsamian took part in the show, predominantly featuring ballet, which was a mix of The Nutcracker and the Teddy Bears Picnic.

The children involved were aged between three and 11 and the cast spent many hours practising their routines over the last three months.

A percentage of the revenue from ticket sales will be donated to a charity in South Africa, called Imbewu yeKapa, a school for performing arts.

Funds from the show will help to provide much needed transport to take children to and from dance classes.

Parent of one of the pint-sized performers, Anne Curran told the Guardian that the children put in a fantastic performance.

“The children absolutely loved it,” she said.

“We had to draft more chairs in for the performances.

“Some of the three-year-olds were pointing to where the others should go and you could see some of them trying to spot their mums and dads in the audience.

“It was Wendy who pulled it all together though. It was the first show she has done and it was fantastic.”
