FOOTAGE of the moment a man accused of murder drove ‘erratically’ shortly before a fatal collision with a cyclist has been released.
Simon Richardson, 35 and of Epsom Avenue in Sale, is currently on trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
He is accused of murder, manslaughter and dangerous driving following the death of much-love head teacher from Weaverham, Michael Mullins.
Last week, the court heard how Mr Mullins was cycling on Paddock Lane on April 20 when he was struck by Richardson’s Volvo at the junction with Dunham Road.
Eyewitnesses told the court that they observed Richardson ‘driving erratically’ and ‘extremely fast’ shortly before the junction.
"It was driving extremely fast, and I would say in excess of the speed limit,” a witness said.
“He was very close to the silver car in front, so much so that I thought that they were going to collide.
"The Volvo was not travelling in a straight line. It was all over the place and driving extremely erratically."
Dash cam footage of Richardson driving prior to the collision has now been released by the Crown Prosecution Service.
An image captured by an ANPR camera on Bent Lane, moments after the collision, has also now been released.
Previously, the court heard that when this picture was taken, Mr Mullins was underneath the vehicle as it made its way from the scene.

Last week, prosecutor Phil Barnes told the court that the 56-year-old became trapped underneath the vehicle as it fled the scene and made its way 2.2km to Wet Gate Lane.
There, home security footage captured by a nearby farm shows the vehicle swerving from side to side as the Volvo makes its way along Wet Gate Lane before it mounts a grass verge.
The vehicle can be seen to go over the verge before reversing backwards over Mr Mullins’ body, the prosecution allege.
Mr Mullins was later found on the grass verge by a motorcyclist who followed a trail of blood from the scene on Paddock Lane in an effort to find him. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at 6.50pm.
Richardson had left the scene, making his way into Lymm where he filled up at a petrol station, before driving back to the home of his cousin, Gabrielle Debotte, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time.
The 35-year-old has denied murder, manslaughter and dangerous driving. The trial continues.
