A CYCLIST has sadly died after a ‘horrific incident’ in Handforth.
The 62-year-old woman died in hospital on Tuesday following a crash near the Bulls Head pub on Saturday.
Seena Chacko, of Tabley Road, Handforth, has admitted causing the incident that left the victim in a critical condition.
The 42-year-old was driving a blue Citroen C4 Grand Picasso along Wilmslow Road when she collided with a cyclist, knocking her to the roadside.
The cyclist was treated at the scene by passers-by and then paramedics before being taken to hospital.
Chacko had carried on along the road with the bike underneath the vehicle before she was stopped by another motorist.
The defendant appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, September 17, and pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The driver face charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, no licence and no insurance.
She is next due to appear at Chester Crown Court on October 21 to be sentenced.
Investigating officer Sgt Russ Sime from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a horrific incident and shocking for those who witnessed it.
“I’d like to thank those who stopped the car, and those who gave the cyclist first aid while paramedics were called.
“Our thoughts remain with the family of the cyclist at this truly awful time.”
